Developer Bungie announces release date for upcoming game 'Destiny'

The upcoming game for game developer Bungie, "Destiny," now has a release date of September 9, 2014.

According to an news story posted on December 6 to the official website, the date has now been set in stone. The post also states that the beta "will kick off in the summer of 2014, available first on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3."

Bungie, a developer known for the "Halo" series of Xbox games, is creating an open world action role-playing game set in a world devastated by inter-galactic wars. The player is a Guardian, an Earth protector granted powers through a mysterious sphere known as the Traveler, tasked with defending Earth's last city.

The game will be arriving on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One with some elements exclusive to Sony platforms.
