Good news for Wii U owners looking to bolster their library as publisher Square Enix has confirmed the company’s plans to release a Director’s Cut of the 2011 standout title for the console. According to a listing found by online retailer Amazon, the title has a tentative release date of May 7, 2013. While Square Enix has not confirmed an official release date, they have stated that this version will ship with a number of features specific to the Wii U console. Square Enix plans to incorporate Nintendo’s Miiverse in an unspecified manner as well introducing a new augmentation called Neural Hub that will utilize the GamePad controller of the Wii U.
They also stated that they plan on shipping the game with a number of additional items and new features such as developer commentaries, in-game help guides as well as overhauling the game’s controversial boss fights which uncharacteristically stripped away player choice and was a main point of contention in the original release. They also mentioned that the game will receive gameplay tweaks and graphical upgrades as well as including DLC content released post-launch such as Tong's rescue misssion and the Missing Link chapter. No word yet as to whether or not this updated version of the title will allow you to customize your controls as I was unable to get into the original release due to the inability to change the game’s cumbersome controls into something more manageable.
The Director’s Cut seems to be the most complete edition of this game being released and for those of you who may have overlooked this title originally, or if you are looking to experience it with the additional features included on the Wii U edition should keep an eye out for this title's release.
