Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution teaser trailer revealed

Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution

Last night's Game Developers Conference awards show included a surprise ending with the debut of Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution teaser trailer.  The series is game is being developed by Eidos Montreal with Square Enix handling the CG cutscenes and distribution.  Series creator Warren Spector is not attached to the game.

The game uses Square's Crystal Engine currently in use by Final Fantasy XIII and is set 25 years before the first Deus Ex game.  Expect the same kind of open-ended, open-world RPG/shooter hybrid that made the first Deus Ex game a unique experience.  However, because the game is set in an earlier time frame, the nano-augmentations are gone to be replaced by mechanical augmentations.  You can still set the upgrade path you want to take with either combat or a more passive or stealthy approach.

The main character is named Adam Jensen and is a security specialist for a biotechnology firm.  He's clearly gone through some serious damage though because he already has significant mechanical augmentations.

Deus Ex 3 is due out later this year for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.  We'll learn more at E3 so sit back and watch the trailer a couple of times.  For a pre-rendered story trailer, it's actually very nice to look at.  Let us know what you think in the comments below.
