The DWIFF (Detroit-Windsor International Film Festival) will be taking place at Wayne State University from June 22-26. In addition, there will be a free "Tech Fair" on Saturday 6/25 from 11:30am to 4:00pm in Prentice Hall and DeRoy Auditorium.

DETROIT-- The schedule is set and it is time for action-camera-roll film, for the fourth annual Detroit-Windsor International Film Festival. All the events will all take place on the campus of Wayne State University from June 22-26. The special attraction of this year’s DWIFF is the free Tech-Fair on Saturday June 25, from 11:30 to 4:00 PM in Prentice Hall and DeRoy Auditorium.
Besides the student shorts, some of the premier feature presentations will be the Hawaiian comedic romp “Get A Job” to be shown on June 25, at 5:00 PM at the WSU Welcome Center (42 W. Warren Ave.). Maui film director, Brian Kohne will be in attendance for a post viewing Q & A. The movie and soundtrack includes songs by Uncle Willie K. and Eric Gilliom. Cameos and the wedding band finale stars Willie Nelson, Pat Simmons and Mick Fleetwood. Ukulele ambassador, Jake Shimabukuro also has a comedic part in the movie. Kohne, has developed an additional profit model for foreign distribution. “The dubbing and sub-titles is another whole universe,” added Kohne. “Raymond Rolak, a Wayne State alumnus, I might add, has developed a unique campaign to merchandise films in Poland.” Rolak will also present at the Tech-Fair at 11:30 AM on the importance of wardrobe catalogue and conservation.
All in all, there will be nine full length features including “World of Art” by Mike Allore and “Certain Essential Elements” by Jeff Schultz are not to miss productions.
Sponsored by Wayne County and The College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State, the DWIFF is actually two events. Besides the juried film presentations there is the ‘Moving Media’ Student Film Competition. The latter are film submissions from area college students. Mostly shorts, there are five categories- documentaries, music video, experimental, narrative and animation. Kelly Gottesman of WSU Communications said, “We are pleased to have so many entries from nearby colleges. That is part of the mission statement is to hopefully develop young filmmakers.”
The DWIFF will open Wednesday June 22, at 6:00 PM in the Community Arts Auditorium on the Wayne State campus. Keynote speaker will feature renowned film editor and Lecturer in Residence at WSU, Richard Chew. Also John Kelly, founder of the DWIFF will make an address along with Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.
