Detroit’s 56th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Join the merry revelers this Sunday for St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Detroit. This traditional parade runs down Michigan Ave between Sixth Street and Fourteenth Street, passing the Old Tiger Stadium on Trumbull. For good reason, the parade will be 56 this year. There is something available for every one.

There are two pre-parade events: 9 AM mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (on 58 Parsons Ave) and the Annual Corktown Races. This gives you a chance to join your fellow Irish Catholics spiritually or just work off the beer you’ll be drinking later that day. The parade itself sets up at 11 AM at the corner of Sixth Street and Michigan Ave then begins at noon. You’ll have a sight for sore eyes as you watch the clowns, floats, and marching units entertain you. Of course, there will be every one’s fill of bagpipes and men in kilts.

Make sure that you double check the details before you go on their website or see their Facebook for quick updates. Get there early to guarantee a good spot and make sure you wear your green. Wouldn’t want to get pinched, would we?
