Well, the Pistons' time at .500 was short lived. After being the Bulls to go to 10-10 on the year, Detroit was beaten soundly at home by Miami and Minnesota, before losing to New Orleans on the road in overtime. The Pistons have the chance to get back to their winning ways tonight against Brooklyn, even if the Nets have Deron Williams back. Then, they play four games in the next week. Here is a closer look at those games.
First, on Sunday, the Pistons are hosting Portland. The Blazers got off to a great start, and they have not cooled down. They are quite good. Certainly better than the Pistons. This will be a loss. Also a loss? Monday's road game against the Pacers. Indiana is great, Detroit is not. Hopefully the Pistons win tonight, because otherwise it looks like they will go on a major losing streak.
However, there is hope on the horizon. On Wednesday the Pistons visit Boston. The Celtics were expected to be bad this year, but they've done pretty well so far. Brad Stevens seems like he has taken to coaching in the NBA, but this roster still isn't that good. The Pistons should be able to beat them. Even on the road, I shall take the Pistons.
Finally, on Friday they host the Bobcats. Like Boston, Charlotte has been surprisingly good thus far. They've played strong defense, but that just isn't a good roster, and Detroit is at home. I'll take the Pistons in that game too.
I think this can be a 2-2 week, and I hope it will be. Beating teams like Boston and Charlotte is key to Detroit making the postseason. They can't squander this opportunity.
