This has been an interesting week for the Pistons to say the least. After eking out a win over Brooklyn, Detroit came oh so close to beating Portland, before losing the game in overtime. Then, they bounced back from that by beating the Indiana Pacers, which was truly surprising. And then they fell way behind the Celtics on the road, but managed to come back to earn a 107-106 win. So now, the Pistons are 13-14, and if they can beat the Bobcats tonight at home, and they should, they will be a .500 team. This upcoming week only sees the Pistons playing three games, in part because the NBA decided that maybe Detroit wasn't going to draw in the eyeballs on Christmas, I suppose. Here are their upcoming matchups.
On Saturday, the Pistons host the Rockets. Dwight Howard versus Andre Drummond! Houston is a very good team, and so I do not expect Detroit to manage to pull out the win. It should be interesting, though. Houston is a fun team to watch, what with their pace and offensive efficiency.
Monday sees the Pistons visiting Cleveland. The Cavs got off to a slow start to the year, but have played a bit better recently. Beating teams like the Cavaliers is how the Pistons solidify their playoff spot. On the road it may be a bit tricky, but I think I'll take Detroit to win. Then, the Pistons are off until next Friday, when they are in Orlando to take on the Magic. I like some of the pieces on this team, but they are still in a fairly early stage of a rebuild, and they don't seem to intent on winning this year. The Pistons should be able to win this game. I think they will.
I'm seeing a 2-1 record for Detroit next week. If they win tonight, that would mean the Pistons would be above .500. A winning record! For a team in the Eastern Conference! That isn't Miami or Indiana! Do we dare to dream? Will it be our own personal Christmas miracle? We can only hope. Merry Christmas.
