The Detroit Pistons have played 60 games this season. I looked at how they have performed as a team so far, but now I shall turn my attention to the individual players. Of course, it must be pointed out the roster isn't the same as it was when the season began. Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye are gone. Jose Calderon has arrived. As such, I have decided to only include players that are currently on the roster, since that has more relevance going forward.
Greg Monroe leads the team in scoring at 15.9 ppg. It'd be nice if this team could get a high level scorer on this team. Maybe Brandon Knight can be that some day, but he's not there yet. He is second on the team in scoring at 13.9 ppg, however. Stuckey is averaging 11.3 points. Nobody else has double-digit points. Aside from Calderon, that is.
I think I shall just give Calderon his own section, since we are dealing with a 12 game sample size on the Pistons. He has brought them an actual passer, as he has 7.2 assists per game, and he's averaging 1.33 steals per game as well. His assist-to-turnover ratio is an excellent 3.9. He's also the best shooter on the team.
Monroe is close to 10 boards per game, as he is at 9.6 rebounds per game. Drummond is at 7.5 per game, and he's averaging 1.68 blocks too. All in 19.7 minutes per game. Sadly, he has been injured recently, and won't be back in the near future. Some day this war's gonna end.
Knight is second on the team in assists, behind Calderon, at 4.2 per game. Monroe is actually averaging 3.3, and he leads the team in steals per game at 1.35.
For some reason, PER is not being listed on ESPN.com. I do not know why. So, I decided to head over to Basketball Reference and look at their win shares. Monroe leads the team at 4.5. Drummond is second at 3.8, and Kyle Singler is actually third at 2.2. Calderon is already at 1.5, and he is just above Drummond in win shares per 48 minutes.
Basically, Monroe is a very good player. So is Calderon. Drummond has a bright future. Nobody else is contributing a ton. However, this is a team still with an eye toward the future.
