Detroit Marathon aftermath: 3 deaths in half marathon

Not very often runners meet their end in races, unfortunately the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon suffered 3 casualties this year, all in within 16 minutes.

The Detroit Free Press first reported the deaths of Daniel Langdon, 36, of Laingsburg, MI, Rick Brown, 65, of Marietta, Ohio, and Jon Fenlon, 26, of Waterford, MI. All 3 were competing in the 13.1-mile half marathon race. Langdon and Brown collapsed near the end of the race while Fenlon shortly afterwards.

These were the first deaths since 1994 for the Detroit Marathon. Strangely enough, the Crim 10 mile race in Flint suffered a death this year as well, second in its 32-year history.
