Detroit man faces serious felony charges in shooting of son

The Detroit Police Department announced Wednesday that Roger Scott Sr. has been arraigned on two heavy felonies and a firearms charge after allegedly shooting his son four times after the two argued.

Police have not revealed what the dispute was about, if they even know.

Scott was arraigned on Christmas day.

He is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do geat bodily harm, and felony firearm.

Bond was set at $75,000; 10% of that would be needed to spring him.

The argument happened at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon in a home on the 11400 block of Ashton near Schoolcraft on the city’s west side.

Scott pulled a weapon and shot his son several times. There were other people in the house who may be witnesses to the attack.

The victim was taken to Harper Grace Hospital where he underwent surgery.

His condition was critical for several days.

Scott’s next court appearance will be a conference on January 8.
