Just two months ago the only Detroit Lions rumors swirling were if Jim Schwartz will be the 2014 coach of the year, and how do Lions fans get first round playoff tickets. After the 6-3 start was followed by a 1-6 finish, Schwartz was let go and now Lions fans are wondering who will be the next man in charge.
Kubiak's most successful seasons came in 2011 (10-6) and 2012 (12-4) with the Texans.
Earlier today ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that former Titans coach Mike Munchak is scheduled to interview this Friday, Jan. 10.
Munchak was fired after his third season with the Titans. It may seen odd for Munchak if he did get the Lions head coaching position since he spent 31 years as either a player or coach with the Titans franchise.
Even though both of the former coaches have had success, ESPN.com reports that the Lions job is Ken Whisenhunt's to lose.
If the Lions were interested in hiring Whisenhunt, they couldn't hire the Chargers offensive coordinator until San Diego's season is over. Whisenhunt is reportedly the top candidate for Detroit's head coaching vacancy.
Whisenhunt led the Arizona Cardinals to their only Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
