The holiday season is winding down and the calendar is starting to free up a little. You've just enjoyed several new craft beers with the holiday 6 packs and variety packs that were exchanged as gifts. You want to know more about craft beer and how it's made, but reading books isn't really your thing.
Motor City Brew Tours(MCBT) to the rescue. Located in Troy, Mich., they offer bus, bike, or walking brew tours at some of your favorite breweries in Detroit and the rest of Michigan. Tours are scheduled once or twice a month and tickets go fast so check ahead of time when you have that free weekend open up.
MCBT just completed another successful brew tour of local breweries, Sherwood Brewing in Shelby Twp., Mich., Kuhnhenn's Brewing in Warren, Mich., and Dragonmead Brewery also in Warren, Mich. Their next scheduled event are the last couple weekend in January with an automotive and brewery history themed tour for customers to enjoy. Tickets can be purchased here.
Each tour visits different breweries, but the agenda is fairly similar. Each customer receives lunch and a few brew samples at the first stop, then the remaining stops will also receive a few of each brewery's samples. At each location, the group gets a guided tour of the brewery and a Q&A session with the brewer.
MCBT also offers walking or biking tours for those looking to burn off what they consume in craft beer. Check out their photo slideshow on their homepage.
These tours offer a fun alternative to reading up on brewing, by allowing the customers see first hand on how craft beer is made. So if you get that free Saturday afternoon, and you are looking to increase your craft beer IQ, Motor City Brew Tours is the way to go.
