The Michigan Wolverines will win the second semifinal game tonight against the Syracuse Orange and earn the right to play for the NCAA Mens Basketball title next Monday night.
East Regional champ Syracuse pushed aside opponents using a stifling 2-3 zone defense. Michigan, after disappointing performances at the end of the Big Ten season and the conference tournament, has used a wide-open offense and an invigorated defense to move through South Regional opponents to the Final Four.
The Wolverines have the nation's best college basketball player. Sophomore guard Trey Burke won the John Wooden Award for the 2012-13 NCAA season. He scored the critical basket in the regional title game against Kansas and is the Wolverines' on-court leader.
Forward Mitch McGary has been a tremendous surprise in the NCAA tournament and has been recording double-doubles with confidence. The difference maker for the Wolverines tonight will probably be sharpshooting guard Nik Stauskas. His ability to hit three-pointers can be a zone beater.
Syracuse will rely on its well-executed 2-3 zone defense and the leadership of guard Michael Carter-Williams and forward C. J. Fair to try and beat the Wolverines. They will play well, but this time the Orange will fall to Michigan.
