The Michigan Film Office announced on Thursday (August 29) that the upcoming Superman/Batman movie has been awarded a state incentive $35 million on $131 million of projected in-state expenditures. Furthermore, the city will serve as both Metropolis and Gotham in the film.

Man of Steel director Zack Snyder stated that, "Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie."

Production on the new film is expected to begin the first quarter of 2014.

The still untitled film will be released July 17, 2015.
