You hop onto the scale and look down and see that number slowly get higher every day. You look in the mirror and try to pin point the added weight on your body and face. As you sigh you make your way to the kitchen and fix yourself a meal. Continuing throughout the day, you forget how you felt looking at yourself in the mirror. You begin to eat fast, greasy, fatty foods and start the process over again the next morning.

A great way to get back on the wagon is to do a water fast. This sounds scary and insane but the type of water fast that will be focused on in this article is only for the brave.
A water fast is consuming only water for an allotted amount of time. There are different types of water fasting. You can do the 50% water fast, which is 50% of your intake of the day will be water. For example if you are doing this type of fast you will eat a heavy breakfast, light lunch with water then water for dinner for a fixed amount of time. A complete water fast is having no calories allowed in your body for the amount of time during the fast.
The maximum time recommended for a 50% water fast is seven to ten days. The maximum time recommended for a complete water fast is 2 days. Although a water fast is cleansing and helps with detoxifying the body, water is not something a body can solely live off of.
Since you’re still reading, it’s safe to assume that you’re considering participating in the water fast or you’re interested. You should not start any type of diet by going straight into it because it’s not healthy and you’re setting yourself up for failure. With any sort of adventure you need to prepare yourself.
The week before going on this fast try eating food that is high in carbohydrates and calories. You need to store as much fuel in your body as possible. Also if you’re someone that does not like to drink water, now is the time to introduce water into your diet.
Now that you’ve prepared for this fast think about how your body will react to the large amounts of water. You will be using the bathroom frequently and you will be hungry. If you are someone that has a medical reason to have food constantly, this fast is not for you. Keep these in the back of your mind as you’re considering the fast.
After the fast you should not indulge in a large cheese burger with fries, reintroduce healthy food into your diet. You don’t want to go back to where you began and you don’t want your body to go into shock.
The purpose of this type of detox is to clean out your body and help clear your mind. If you can go two days without food, once you start your diet you can overcome any craving. It’s also extremely humbling that you have the option of not eating, you the next time you enjoy your meal you will savor it.
