Detour on Four Mile Run Trail until spring

See also

As of December 2, a short stretch of the Four Mile Run Trail has been closed in order to accommodate the demolition of an abandoned railroad bridge.

This stretch lies along the Arlington/Alexandria border, near where the Four Mile Run Trail meets the Mount Vernon Trail. The detour will remain in effect on weekdays and Saturdays until sometime in the spring, at which time the demolition work is expected to be finished. Those taking the detour are expected to take the west sidewalk along Jefferson Davis Highway, and then cross South Glebe Road. To the east of Glebe, hikers and bikers will be able to get back onto the trail by using the switchback ramps.
