It looks like Emily Maynard got to have her fairytale wedding after all, even though it wasn’t exactly how she planned it while appearing on “The Bachelorette.” She married her fiancé, Tyler Johnson, in a low-key ceremony last week and People gave all the details on Thursday on her very special day.
The reality star had a Southern-inspired wedding under a white oak tree at Johnson’s family farm in South Carolina. It was just perfect for the ceremony. In fact, Maynard said that she knew that she would get married under that tree, even before the proposal.
The exchanging of vows was a complete surprise for the 200 people on the guest list as they thought they were attending their engagement party. Little did they know that they would be witnessing the actual wedding between Maynard and Johnson, with 8-year-old Ricki by their side. Maynard’s daughter was her maid of honor and she looked adorable in her pink tutu-style dress. Her mama walked down the lantern-lined aisle wearing a custom-made pink Modern Trousseau gown, compete with cowboy boots underneath, into the waiting arms of her groom.
"Seeing Tyler standing there was one of the most magical moments of my life," the blushing bride said. "And having my daughter standing up there with us made the whole thing that much more meaningful."
After they said their ‘I do’s,’ it was time to celebrate with a down-home rustic party. The menu included fried okra, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork, and macaroni and cheese, with a few appetizers to whet their appetite.
The four-tiered wedding cake was gorgeous and elegant with two flavors available to try. The first was an almond sponge cake with white chocolate and raspberry, while the second consisted of lemon sponge cake with lemon mousse and lemon curd. They both sound yummy.
There was plenty of dancing the night away and the guests also got to take home some burlap bags from the big day filled with sweets and coffee. It sounds like Emily Maynard’s special day is the start of a happy ending for her. There could be another announcement very soon as the bride said that she is looking forward to more babies.
She admitted to being embarrassed by what happened on the ABC reality show, but that is all behind her now. It looks like she won't be missing her former life as a bachelorette now that she is a happily married woman.
