Sony detailed the “Destiny” content exclusive to the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 on Monday. The content is a mix of co-op, competitive multiplayer, guns, ships and wearable items, but certain listings have gamers wondering if this is a timed exclusive that will eventually be available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
While Sony has made sure that everyone knows that both Playstation consoles are receiving “Destiny” exclusive content, eagle-eyed gamers have spotted information that indicates that the content is timed-exclusive. One Reddit user noticed that a PS Store listing included “Timed exclusivity” fine print, while an Amazon listing read (now changed) that the content is “timed exclusive until at least Fall 2015.”
Regardless, those that purchase “Destiny” at launch for the PS4 and PS3 will receive free extra content. It starts with the Dust Palace Strike, a three-player co-op mission that takes place on Mars. There players will encounter the Cabal amid a buried human skyscraper and a new enemy, the Psion Flayers.
The new competitive multiplayer map is named “Exodus Blue” and is a mid-sized arena geared towards Control and Skirmish games modes. It is set in an ancient human spaceship used to transport passengers to new worlds.
The new gear includes the Manifold Seeker for Warlocks, Vanir for Titans and Argus for Hunters. There’s also the Monte Carlo assault rifle, with a rather dangerous looking fixed bayonet, and the Hawkmoon hand cannon complete with intricate “hawk feather” etchings. Both weapons are upgradeable.
New ships are included as well, though they are mostly decoration in “Destiny.” They include the Aurora Wake, Crypt Hammer and Outrageous Fortune. You can check out all three in the slideshow gallery.
“Destiny” is currently set for a Sept. 9 launch to the PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Those that pre-order the game from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy or GameStop will be granted access to the beta test starting July 17.
