Activision sent out a press release Monday that confirmed a release window for Bungie's "Destiny" as well as the console platforms it will release on. The current-gen Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are assured along with the PS4 and next Xbox (aka Xbox 720).
In the statement Activision said it "not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result." That guarantees a 2014 release for "Destiny" but whether it is in the first, second, third, or fourth quarter is unknown. A spring or fall release seems the most likely though given the hype around the game, .
Additionally, Activision included the following message on platform availability.
Bungie's new next-generation game engine will allow Destiny to come to life on both the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, as well as other future console platforms.
Future console platforms includes the PS4 and Xbox 720 of course. Sony is expected to announce its next-gen console this Wednesday, Feb. 20 while Microsoft is expected to make the reveal of the Xbox 720 sometime before E3 in June.
In its reveal Sunday, Bungie said that it currently has no plans for a PC release. Meanwhile, the Wii U remains decidedly unmentioned.
