Activision showed its support for Sony's newly announced Playstation 4 on Wednesday night by confirming that Bungie's upcoming sci-fi franchise, "Destiny", is bound for the next-gen console. Better yet, it will have exclusive content.
Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg took to the stage at the Sony's Playstation Meeting event in New York City where he confirmed that "Destiny" will be a title that crosses console generations. Additionally, the PS4 and the PS3 will receive exclusive content.
While we don't know what exactly this content is yet, this is a coup for Sony as Microsoft leveraged timed exclusivity for the "Call of Duty" franchise into sales of the Xbox 360. It remains to be seen if "Destiny" can have the same level of success but this does so that exclusive arrangements between console makers and game publishers will continue well into the next-generation of consoles.
"Destiny" is expected to be released some time in 2014. The PS4 will arrive in time for the holidays in 2013.
