Destination - Valentine's Day

Getting away does not necessarily mean leaving your hometown. A respite away from the monotony of work or the stress can be as close as down the road, or across town.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, take the time to get away and take a respite from your every day schedule. Take your spouse, your parents, your children out to tell them how much you love them.

A romantic dinner amongst the beauty of Omaha's Lauritzen Gardens may be what Cupid has in store for you and your favorite valentine. Reservations are still available for the 9:00 pm seating. For $50.00 per person, you will be in one of the most beautiful settings in the Omaha area. Patrons will be served an elegant three course meal starting with a wedge salad. A choice from five main dishes will allow you to choose from exquisitely prepared dishes. If you favor beef, choose Chateaubriand or roast beef with a pinot noir reduction and fried Portobello mushrooms. Or choose large stuffed Portobello mushroom with vegetable ragout stuffing. Chicken, Cornish hens or salmon are also available. Choose from a Chardonnay or Merlot and a tasteful variety of dessert and you have a romantic Valentine’s Dinner.

If you have young children, they may love to use scissors, construction paper and glitter. Have them make Valentine cards for those less fortunate and deliver them. This is a lesson in selfless love. For a celebration, take them out to the Omaha's Children’s Museum or even out for an ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Take you parent out to lunch or dinner to their favorite restaurant. Whether it is pizza or pancakes, take the opportunity to thank them for all they have done. A walk through Joslyn Museum, in downtown Omaha and lunch at their café would be a wonderful way to express your love.

Whatever you choose, remember it is the thought and your sincerity that will be most appreciated. Just don’t forget to the one you love.
