Dessert recipe: Chocolate layered with peanut butter cheesecake

This delicious dessert layers chocolate over peanut butter cheesecake over a crunchy crust and it is fabulous. This is one of those desserts you will always want more than one piece. It’s one you will want to make again and again. It’s a bit of an addiction. Come on – chocolate and peanut butter? What’s not to love here!

Each layer of this amazing dessert is easy to make and the only layer that needs baking is the peanut crust. It goes together very quickly and is well worth any effort!

For those of you trying to cut fat and calories, you can use fat-free cream cheese and fat-free Cool Whip. Use sugar-free pudding for the chocolate layer. You could probably even use a little less butter in the crust. For those of you who will just work out more, the recipe as written is absolutely delicious!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert Recipe

Layer 1:

  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup peanuts, finely chopped

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Stir the melted butter and flour together, add the peanuts. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature.

Layer 2:

  • ¾ cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy), softened
  • 12 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 3 cups Cool Whip

With an electric mixer, cream together the peanut butter and cream cheese. Add the powdered sugar, then mix in the Cool Whip. Spread evenly over the cooled crust.

Layer 3:

  • 2 large packages (5-ounce) instant chocolate pudding powder
  • 3 cups milk

Mix together with a whisk until well incorporated. Spread carefully and evenly over Layer 2.

Layer 4:

Top with Cool Whip. Garnish with chopped peanuts and/or chocolate shavings from a milk chocolate candy bar (made by running a vegetable peeler over the edge of a chocolate bar). Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
