October is domestic violence month. Because of the governmental shut down, many web pages that might be cranking out public service announcements and changes are frozen.http://www.usda.gov/fundinglapse.htm#PREVENT
Probably one of the hottest topics in my office for teens, older adolescents and adults are issues regarding getting along with others, and as these youth get older, dealing with intimacy and physical intimacy.
Many people shy away from these issues, thinking those latter words cross boundaries with faith traditions and teachings.
What I try to tell parents is, that although that may be a facet of what is discussed or complex in the end, the bigger issue is the parent avoidance of behaviors prior either by their teen or directed at their teen that are indeed bullying in this strain.
Parents are often the first to know there is some version of manipulation or abuse going on, but don't speak up to educate, separate or give directions or as the other family to help them deal with both kids. These interactions increasingly involve paring off as kids get older, but the kids have to accept and parents too, that it starts LONG before that.
So understanding about youth body and brain development, social situations, social norms faith norms , family expectations and norms helps a good bit. What seems to happen though is that families are taking on either NO issues about the youth struggle, or they think that bullying should be the subject, and that avoids the bigger picture.
Here is a series of articles I wrote earlier this year about things that have to do with just this stuff.

This general spectrum of issues is part of what families are looking at in my Oklahoma City Counseling practice. Hope this helps in the government shut down, where so many pages are blocked from family use. http://www.usda.gov/fundinglapse.htm#PREVENT
