As the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death draws near, rumors have been swirling about the reopening of his case. Not true, says the Seattle Police Department. A detective from Seattle PD did examine Cobain's file in anticipation of renewed media interest surrounding his death; however, the case remains closed and his passing still remains ruled a suicide.

The detective did make an unexpected discovery while reviewing his case file: four undeveloped rolls of film from the scene. Two of the pictures have been released. They show images of a lighter, spoon, and syringes, in addition to various other personal belongings.

Cobain was the frontman of legendary grunge band Nirvana. He committed suicide in April of 1994.
