Despite a lack of polar bears at the Zoo, it's time for Polar Bear Day!

The St. Louis Zoo is still on the waiting list for polar bears, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate them anyway. Right?

Wednesday is International Polar Bear Day. Who knew? The zoo is helping you celebrate this odd little holiday by having a few free activities for the kids.

Head over to the Living World (that’s at the North Entrance, how appropriate!) from 11 am to 2pm to learn about polar bears. The zoo will be teaching kids how polar bears use their blubber to stay warm (there’s a blubber glove involved, can’t miss that) and there will be a take home activity booklet.

The Coca-Cola Polar Bear mascot will be around for photos from 11am to noon, then Steve Bircher, Zoo curator of carnivores, will offer a lecture on polar bear conservation.

Entrance to the zoo is always free, as is the polar bear activities.

The zoo is working on a kick-booty polar bear habitat in the same style as the new sea lions. By the time it is finished in 2016, they hope to have a few residents. See you at the zoo!
