The minions are back! On Tuesday, March 19 iTunes Movie Trailers released a new trailer for the upcoming animated comedy sequel "Despicable Me 2" which will open in theaters this summer. Instead of just focusing on the minions, this trailer includes Gru and the girls as well as the new threat Gru must deal with. The sequel is expected to release in theaters on July 3, 2013.
The two and a half minute trailer features some clever spy gadgets, a secret underwater organization, and plenty of laughs. The lovable super villain Gru is settled into his new life with the girls and is tucking them into bed. Later, Gru is stopped outside Agent Lucy Wilde from the Anti-Villain League stops him. Gru tries to use a freeze ray on her but she sees it coming and takes him down with an pretty incognito gadget before kidnapping him.
Enter the minions chasing after the car to a well fitting Eminem song. Two of the short, yellow minions try to save Gru from the car before ending up as passengers themselves. After the car drive off a pier and into a secret facility, the story really begins. Gru must stop a new villain, voiced by Al Pacino. The trailer is full of action and laughs.
The Universal Pictures film will open in theaters on July 3, 2013 and a solo film about the minions is expected to release later this year. The project features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, and Russell Brand. Check out the official website for more information.
