'Desperate Housewives' creator speaks out on Dixie Carter, not Nicollette Sheridan

Marc Cherry -- the creator of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" -- has broken his silence since a lawsuit was filed by former show star Nicollette Sheridan over an on-set incident in 2008. However the subject at hand had nothing to do with any legal allegations -- instead, he was talking about his former boss, "Designing Women" actress Dixie Carter, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 70.

Speaking to "Entertainment Tonight," Cherry offered up his condolences:

"I started out as a fan, then became her employee and ended up as her friend. Sadly, there aren't many people in this town with such class, dignity and integrity. She will be missed."

While offering up his condolences to Carter is certainly appreciated, many people are still waiting to hear Cherry's side of the story after Sheridan accused him of "striking" her following a script abuse on set. ABC came out in public support of Cherry, and so did a number of his crew members. (Therefore, maybe he has enough support.)

Do you think Cherry should address the issue himself? Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more TV news. To view photo highlights of Sheridan on "Desperate Housewives," follow the link here. As for a slideshow remembering Dixie Carter, you can find it here.
