On Feb. 26, 2013, a “fugly” mug shot of Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Desmond Bryant went viral due after a columnist posted the image on his Twitter page.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Bryant was arrested on Sunday for showing up at a neighbor’s house “inebriated” and “causing a commotion” while he was there.
Victor Cotto posted the booking photo and tweeted, “Oakland #Raiders DT Desmond Bryant sure looks tore up here… Custody Picture from Miami Dade system…”
While Bryant was being booked, he was “extremely intoxicated,” had blood-shot eyes, slurred his speech, and his breath wreaked of alcohol, according to CBS Miami.
The Huffington Post notes that Bryant’s mug shot was compared to a bad photo of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Mama June by Bleacher Report’s Matt King.
Deadspin went so far as to ask readers to create Photoshopped images using Bryant’s mug as inspiration and the result is nothing short of bizarre. In one of the manipulated images, Bryant's head is on a seal's body, and in another, his head is attached to a man's genitals.
The Post reports Bryant is a three-year veteran of the Raiders and will be a free agent next month. He is also a Harvard graduate.
