Desiree Hartsock announced as the new 'Bachelorette'

The 26-year-old bridal stylist was clearly a season 17 fan favorite. From the beginning, Desiree Hartsock was a standout in the eyes of Sean Lowe. 'Des' always came across as the down-to-earth girl next door. She wasn't big on drama, and seemed like the real deal to Sean, and to viewers. It looked as though she was Sean's clear choice from the beginning, but all that changed during the hometown dates. Whether it was Des' critical brother, or something else, Sean let her go. She may not have walked away with Sean Lowe in the finale, but don't fret for this American sweetheart. During the ABC 'After the Rose' finale on Monday, Des was announced as the next Bachelorette.

She entered the stage teary-eyed, and said that she is overcome with happiness. She said she could have never imagined signing up for 'The Bachelor,' let alone being next season's Bachelorette.

Des said that she is happy for Sean and Catherine, and can only hope to have a love like theirs. She hopes to meet the man of her dreams through this experience. She is clearly emotional about the upcoming opportunity, and Chris Harrison joked that if she is crying already, they have a long season ahead of them.

Des said 'The Bachelor' has helped her to learn that real feelings do develop, and real relationships do happen on television. She is hoping one of her 25 hopefuls will wind up being her husband.
