Fans of “The Bachelorette” with Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried have been anxiously awaiting wedding details, but so far little has been revealed. It had been widely assumed that Des and Chris were forging ahead, and that they were just waiting on a date from ABC. According to Reality Steve's latest blog post on Thursday, that may not quite be the case. If he is right, fans may end up being disappointed on this one.
Until now, every couple together at the end of a season of "The Bachelor" or "The Bachelorette" who eventually gets married has had a televised wedding. Trista and Ryan Sutter, Jason and Molly Mesnick, Ashley and JP Rosenbaum and now Sean and Catherine Lowe have all shared their vows in front of the cameras. Most figured that the same would hold true for Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried, and many thought that date might come about in the next few months.
However, Reality Steve indicates that this may not be how this wedding plays out. Though he doesn't have specifics, he indicates that ABC doesn't seem to have an interest in televising a wedding for Desiree and Chris. It doesn't sound as if anything is set in stone yet, so it may be that the two sides simply haven't been able to come to terms yet. This does seem to be the first time, though, that the network has seemingly been willing to pass on the opportunity, which makes for some interesting theorizing regarding the reasons.
Chris Siegfried did recently share via Twitter that they indeed do not have a wedding date set yet. There have been no signs indicating that it's not going to happen, and even Reality Steve references that a wedding seems to be still on the table. However, for whatever reason, the show doesn't seem to be making a move to handle it. Chris and Desiree's fans will certainly be disappointed if that's how it plays out.
Will the network walk away from all televised weddings for successful franchise couples? That doesn't seem likely, at least Reality Steve doesn't think so. He indicates that he would imagine if Andi Dorfman gets married to her final guy, the network will be all over that. It is, though, pretty safe to say that even if Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell ever get married, that won't be televised on ABC either.
Do you think there is still hope for Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried's wedding to air on ABC? Or, should the two quietly do their own thing away from the cameras? Given Hartsock's work with Maggie Sottero on not only her own gown but a full line of gowns, many would imagine that a televised wedding was somewhat expected to help promote the designs. For now, though, “The Bachelorettte” fans will have to stay tuned and see how it all plays out.
