Last season's Astronaut vs Samurai collection started as a video collection and then bloomed into a full blown collection of sporty separates. Korean born Sunghee Bang created a line of neutral separates and dresses that move with the woman who wears them. Shown on a diverse collection of models, the designer showed that every woman from petite to plus-size is welcome in her vision.
For aw2011 the sky-high theme continues with Nomad and Aviator line explores 'commonality and contrasts...and the notions of travelers and their movement'. The contrasts come from the tension between rigid, chunkily knit sweaters and flowing long skirts. There's a structured leather jacket that plays off of volume and proportion. A funnel necked full-length wool coat can be thrown over leggings or the woolen shorts with side buttons. Loose drapey t-shirts can be layered for warmth and style.
In only two collections, Sunghee bang has become a force to be reckkoned with. Their stylish, New York edge tempered with a flowing femininity is getting noticed on websites like modacycle and lowefactor. and were featured in Timeout New York last Fashion Week.Trend? Sunghee Bang's conceptually astute separates. Get on it!
