Mexico’s rich and diverse culture has produced some of the world’s most formidable artists, from Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo to Carlos Santana. Creativity and uniqueness in distinction of artistic style seems to naturally ooze from visual artists and designers whom hail from the flavorful country, and fashion designer Ricardo Seco is no exception to this fact. As one of today’s most influential modern Mexican designers, Seco has helped to set the bar for the contribution of Hispanic designers in the international arena of fashion.
A self-taught designer who later studied at the prestigious Marangoni Institute in Milan and Paris, Seco went on collaborate with Disney, Casa Cuervo, and most notably Converse with whom he had a successful stint as the brand’s Creative Director. Having previously shown at Fashion Week in Mexico City, Colombia, and Miami, it is only fitting that New York City is the next stop in Seco’s plans to take the international scene of fashion by storm. This month Seco will be premiering his men’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection for the first time at New York’s Fashion Week, to be unveiled at ExitArt on February 16th at 6PM.
