New York based fashion designer Milena Encheva presented her Minnoji Resort 2015 collection on Wednesday, during New York Resort 2015 Market Week. This womenswear collection for the two-year old label was inspired by Samurai's. Ms. Encheva focused on structure, draping, and employed an androgynous, sometimes masculine approach to the looks. A masculine inspired look is quite common in womenswear. What was different about this show was the way in which the models presented the looks.
Each model came out one at a time throwing various martial arts kicks and punches as they walked in front of guests. This enabled the models to displayed their toughness, along with the light, easy movements of the garments. After each model made her way down the runway, she stood on a small wooden bucket turned upside down, and posed as press and guests snapped photos and shot video. The primary colors for the collection are black and white, with a touch of pink, blue and cream. Leather was the material of choice for various outfits and details. Notably, the clothes can be worn by many body types and still look good.
One of the more interesting pieces is a pink jumpsuit. It features some draping details, along peek-a-boo cut outs, showing off small slices of skin. Another really pretty look is a navy leather dress with mesh sleeves. It can be worn at the office or during play, and can transition from day to night. An outfit employed both a masculine and feminine touch was cream, wide-leg jump suit. Its very relaxed fit lends to it tomboy style. However, its soft material, v-neck and draping on the back are sexy, pretty features.
Also worth mentioning was a white long sleeve top, and white skirt with black, geometrical, leather detail. Please click on link to view more image from the Minnoji Resort 2015 collection.
