25 years ago, Laine Sou Weinberg launched her line Kokoon. Her intention was to create a contemporary label designed for the busy, modern woman. And that she did!
On this anniversary, her designs still meet the criteria. The look is casual, chic, and feminine. Her fabrications and construction are strongly considered for the woman who is on the go. Wraps and pull over dressing are more dominate in the line verses heavily zippered, buttoned or snapped construction. Working in natural cotton, linen and jersey knit lend to easy maintenance for travel. As well as the convertible and reversible designs of dress/ skirts such as the convertible maxi can be worn as a dress with sash tied at neck pulled down as a skirt with sash tie at waist.
Kokoon’s dress selection for Spring 2013 includes signature approaches such as loose silhouettes and strong patterns as seen in maxi dress Coveteur in jersey knit with the Julep print. Incorporating Pantone color of the year Emerald Green, this large floral pattern pair with apple green and mint is intensified by the chocolate back ground. A faux wrap dress with draping down the front for the look of elegance. Another intriguing pattern in the more asian profile of the Kylie dress is the Chameleon print of Monaco Blue and a peach-ish orange in a loose graphic 2” prints. Again with versatility, the Kylie dress can be worn as a tunic with leggings or trousers as well.
If a more neutral palette is desired, Kokoon has much to offer. Favored is the Yachting tee with the classic boat neck in soft black and ivory strip. Bringing a fresh feminine twist to her top, Laine adds an ivory satin ribbon drawstring on a single side. This piece pairs well with another classic, a wide leg white linen pant constructed with full lining and a wonderful wide knit waist band for comfort. Other favorites are in a tissue rayon for comfort and ease such as the Reversible tank in ivory and mist grey with companion piece Float Cardigan found in both colors.
Kokoon also offers basics such as knit tank dresses, that double as a slips and leggings both in various colors. Last to mention, though is not least, is the amazing trench coat Golightly which with ease can be worn as a dress. This is a statement piece in ecru lace edged in brown and fully lined. Just add the knit slip dress and pearls!
What really sets this line apart is that the majority of their collection consists of limited edition designs completely designed and manufactured in the USA.
The clothes are surprisingly reasonably priced, and they are sold by independent sales representatives through private trunk shows and appointments. www.kokoon.net
