The latest fashion industry buzz is that fashion designer John Galliano, who had fallen out of grace due to his reported anti-Semitic rants, is officially back in the saddle – going back to work in the fashion industry.
The former Christian Dior Creative Director and designer for his own eponymous John Galliano line is rumored to be given a special spot at the ateliers of fashion label Oscar de la Renta.
Galliano’s brief stint with de la Renta is reportedly going to be for a three-week period and it is unclear whether he will be given full reign.
De la Renta did say that he would be consulting Galliano for his upcoming Fall 2013 collection. Also, American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who is a close friend of de la Renta, may have had something to do with the hook-up!
It is believed that while Galliano goes through rehab, keeping to himself and out of public scrutiny, he has not been designing, although he did design Kate Moss's wedding dress for her marriage to musician Jamie Hince.
No doubt this new collaboration between designers John Galliano and Oscar de la Renta will be most anticipated by their clients and the fashion industry!
Who knows, perhaps Galliano has been designing or consulting in secrecy – no fashion house will admit it and fall out of grace themselves! Until now that is… Oscar de la Renta certainly takes a brave step forward.
Maybe Galliano has been designing collections for himself for when he re-enters the fashion scene? Only time will tell…
