Today and Sunday, November 9-10, the annual Designer Con 2013 will be going on at the Pasadena Convention Center. An annual "art and design convention that smashes together collectible toys and designer apparel with urban, underground and pop art," Designer Con should have a bit of everything that any fan of pop culture, such as animation, toys, and film, would be into.

There will be approximately 50,000 square feet of vendor exhibits and art shows, with over 200 vendors of toys, printing, sculpture, plush, apparel, and art ranging from fine to urban. Events include signings, stage presentations, drawing sessions, and raffles.

Previously known as Vinyl Toy Network, as the shows went beyond the scope of the "vinyl toy," the name was changed to Designer Con.

Art show exhibits like The 99 Deaths of Jar Jar will no doubt interest fans of the Star Wars variety.

One day tickets are $5, two day tickets are $10, and at the door, it is $7. The show hours on Saturday is 9 am to 6 pm and on Sunday, 9 am till 5 pm. For more information, go to their official website, designercon.com.

For food, Paseo Colorado Mall across the street offers several dining options. For those using Metrorail, the convention center is a few blocks away from the Gold Line at Memorial Park Station and Del Mar Station. You can visit socaltransport.org to plan your trip.

Show organizers Ben Goretsky (3DRetro) and Ayleen Gaspar (Toy Break / October Toys) joined forces in 2009 when Vinyl Toy Network morphed into Designer Con. Their mutual love of designer toys and the lowbrow art scene in Los Angeles brought them together as co-hosts of Toy Break, organizers of DCon, and friends.
