L'Wren Scott, a designer and the girlfriend of Sir Mick Jagger, has been found dead in her New York City flat.

Scott, 47, was found at 10:00 am by her assistant. Police are treating it as a suicide, although the medical examiner has yet to determine an official cause of death. In a statement Mick Jagger said he is "completely shocked and devastated" by Scott's death. L ‘Wren was found hanged, scarf tied to a doorknob in her Manhattan apartment. Scott was born Luann Bambrough, and was raised by adoptive parents in the US state of Utah.

Scott began her career as a model in Paris shortly after graduating high school in her home state of Utah. She went on to pose for notable brands such as Thierry Mugler and Chanel, before moving to California in the early ‘90s and establishing herself as a sought-after stylist. Scott also launched her fashion brand in 2006. Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman have all worn her gowns to the Academy Awards, while other high-profile names such as Reese Witherspoon, Christina Hendricks, Sandra Bullock and even First Lady Michelle Obama have been seen wearing her designs.

Scott texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked that she come over, police sources said. When she arrived, she found the body and called 911. Police did not suspect foul play, a source said, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine a cause of death. No suicide note was found. Via NY Daily News.

The former model met the Rolling Stones singer in 2001. Her work can also be seen on the big-screen: she designed the costumes for 1996’s “Diabolique,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Eyes Wide Shut” and “Shine a Light,” Martin Scorsese’s documentary about The Rolling Stones. In February, she announced she had canceled her London Fashion Week show. In an eerie coincidence, Scott's official Facebook page and Twitter account had new posts appear online around the time of her death. Via NY Daily News.

Her twitter and facebook read at 10:52am: “today ‪#love ‪#timwalkerphotography ‪#lwrenloves https://www.facebook.com/officiallwrens…”

The fashion community is pouring in on twitter with their condolences like Marc Jacobs who wrote: “Rest in peace, L'Wren Scott. You'll forever be missed.”

Sad day for sure, the fashion world has lost another innovator to suicide. We can never know what struggles haunted Ms Scott but I hope she has found peace. I remember attending one of her events and I was able to meet her and Mick Jagger during fashion week. They were both happy, dancing and having a good time. R.I.P L ‘Wren Scott.
