Microsoft revealed a new contest via Twitter today, where contestants can design a controller and be entered to win up to $1000.

In a bit of a roundabout method of getting to the contest, the Twitter page links to Facebook for details on the contest, and ultimately to Xbox.com for the entry page. If the creative types are wishing to enter, all it takes is downloading the template from the Xbox.com page and uploading your design (up to 3) before December 31st.

Those wanting to check out the entries can visit the site between January 1st and 23th to view the gallery, with voting for best designs opening on January 13th and running through January 27th.

Nine lucky designs will win $500 as first prize, one winner of the "People's Choice" will receive $750, and the grand prize recipient will take home $1000 plus five Xbox One Wireless controllers. The Grand Prize winner will also get a picture of Xbox making a limited-run production of your design. One winner of the "Best use of Microsoft's Fresh Paint app" will receive A $150 gift certificate from CanvasPop.com and a Sensu digital Artist Brush & Stylus.
