Deserving kids run spartan race in Temecula

Over 30 children from Project Hope Alliance experienced an adventure race last weekend amidst a beautiful backdrop of the mountains and beaches of Temecula.

The children poured out of busses to run, climb and crawl through the one-mile obstacle course sponsored by Kids Fit Foundation and Spartan Races.

Kids Fit Foundation and Spartan Races provided race entries, transportation, lunches, t-shirts and medals for the kids. “It’s so important to us for these under-privileged children to get involved in sporting events and fitness,” said Dan Evans. “These events build self-confidence, while promoting health, fitness and wellness. I feel so grateful to know that these kids, who don’t have a solid place to call home, had something to distract them from their daily struggles.”

Dan and Jackie Evans, the mother and son duo, best known for their participation on season five of NBC’s hit reality show, “The Biggest Loser,” lost a combined total of 225 pounds and serve as Kids Fit National Spokespeople.

The Spartan Kids race is the ultimate kid-friendly obstacle course consisting of 10-20 challenges. It features obstacles such as mud pits, tunnel crawls and balance beams with a one-mile race for Varsity Spartans and half mile race for Junior Spartans. All proceeds from the Spartan Kids race benefit the Kids Fit Foundation. The two organizations teamed up in 2012 to encourage youth to become more active and live healthier, happier lifestyles.
