Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department and Metro Waste Authority—The Earth Day “Trash Bash” will activate a host of volunteers to clear away winter debris, remove invasive species to improve wildlifehabitat, clean up litter, and beautify parks, trails, cemeteries and other public spaces. Special events including performances, refreshments and awards will be included. One highlight is unveiling of artwork made from trash cleaned from river cleanups. The art is on public display from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the main lobby atrium of the Wallace State Office Building, located at 502 East Ninth St. in Des Moines. Artist David Williamson and DNR staff will be available during this time to greet visitors and answer questions.
