Adding the right wine makes any meal a little more special, especially for Valentine’s Day. I am no wine connoisseur but do enjoy great wine on occasion.
If you are not able to consult Barnivore.com in the middle of Hy-Vee, you find yourself reading many labels in search of a vegan wine. Of course you can print out a list in advance or memorize your favorites. Sometimes it’s just fun to try something new.
On one of my recent visits to Hy-Vee I found myself in this position. Unsuccessful in finding a clearly vegan wine, I gave up. On the way out I spotted a stand displaying several different wines with modern-looking labels. One more time I picked up the bottle and turned it around in hopes it would say something about being unfiltered. I was so thrilled when it specifically stated, “Vegan Friendly.” Not only are Orleans Hill wines vegan friendly, but they are also organic and sulfite and preservative free.
Our Daily Red is the variety I purchased. It was great tasting, only $9.99, vegan friendly, and organic. What more could you ask for in a wine!
Orleans Hill wines have been spotted at the Hy-Vee in Jordan Creek and in Altoona. Check out your local Hy-Vee or liquor store. You may be surprised, too.
