Derrick Rose was selected to this third straight All-Star game; it will be his second time as a starter for the Eastern Conference.
Joining him to complete the starting five of the Eastern Conference All-Stars will be the leading vote-getter Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard, New York Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony, Miami Heat’s LeBron James and teammate Dwyane Wade.
The Western Conference lineup features Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul, teammate Blake Griffin (making his first career start), Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant and Los Angeles Lakers’ Andrew Bynum.
In selecting the reserves, the 30 NBA head coaches must vote for seven players within their conference, including two guards, two forwards, a center and two players regardless of position. Coaches are not permitted to vote for players on their team. After the coaches select the reserves, if a player is unable to participate in the All-Star Game, NBA Commissioner David Stern will select a replacement. Reserves will be announced Feb. 9, on TNT.
The East and West All-Star coaches and coaching staffs will be determined by the best record in the conference through games played Feb. 15.
The All-Star game will be played on Feb. 26.
