Derrick Rose returned to the United Center court on Wednesday (Oct. 16) for the first time since his surgery. Fans cheered Rose in his return, even shouting "MVP" from the rafters according to a report on the game. By the end of the night, many of the fans in attendance probably believed that he is ready to win the award again.
Rose was 6-for-9 from the field and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. He finished with 22 points in just 22 minutes of action, scoring 18 of those points in the first half alone. Early thoughts on the game indicate that he might be even better than when he got hurt nearly 18 months ago. That is something that fantasy basketball owners should pay close attention to, especially as drafts are taking place for the 2013-14 NBA season.
The Chicago Bulls beat the Detroit Pistons 96-81, almost making it seem like no time had passed since the star point guard was last leading the charge. Speaking about his first half performance during a halftime interview, Rose stated, "I was just trying to really be aggressive. That's the way I normally play. (If that's a sign) for what's to come, I hope so. For me, I was just trying to do anything to get to the basket.''
This Derrick Rose return certainly shows that the Chicago Bulls are ready to be a contender in the Eastern Conference again, but also that he is worthy of being a first-round pick in fantasy basketball drafts again.
