Derrick Rose injury news has already come out and it is still Week 1 of the season. Rose may miss the Chicago Bulls game against the New York Knicks on Thursday (Oct. 31) because of a neck injury he suffered in the season opener. According to a report from ESPN, the All-Star point guard is going to be a game-time decision at United Center.
Apparently he hurt his neck at some point against the Miami Heat on Tuesday (Oct. 29) and it is still bothering him. It's an injury that any basketball player could suffer, but it is going to get headlines because he has played only one game since returning from knee surgery. That game was a loss to Miami, where he scored only 12 points on 4-of-15 shooting from the field. He also had five turnovers to go along with four assists in the contest.
The last thing that Chicago Bulls fans or the front office wanted to hear about before the second game of the season is a new Derrick Rose injury. If he isn't careful, he is going to attract a stigma of not being able to play through the pain. He is probably very aware of that and could very well end up playing against the Knicks. Fantasy basketball owners will want to be ready with a backup plan if he cannot go though.
