Derrick Rose dunk: A pregame dunk by Derrick Rose should excite fantasy owners

A Derrick Rose dunk on Sunday (Feb. 24) has the internet buzzing. In the pregame workouts Rose dunked the ball, showing that he might be really close to taking the court again. A video of the dunk was posted by USA Today on Monday (Feb. 25), getting fans excited that his jumping ability may not have been compromised by the recent injury.

At least the dunk gave fans something to cheer about, because the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder certainly didn't provide much. The team got blown out 102-72 in what amounts to a statement win from one of the best teams in the Western Conference. It certainly proved that the Bulls need to get Rose back on the court if the team wants to truly contend for a title.

Rose still hasn't played in a game this season as he has spent most of it rehabbing. The team has done better than expected without him, posting a nice 32-24 record so far, but that record has been slipping recently. Losing six of its last 10 games, the Bulls have dropped to sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings now. If the postseason began today, the Bulls would have to take on the New York Knicks in the first round of the postseason.

This Derrick Rose dunk was a good sign and it should definitely interest fantasy basketball owners that have been hanging on to him all season. While it doesn't guarantee a return within a week, it certainly shows that Rose is getting more comfortable out there. Consider this to be a sign that he has moved close to a return and that it looks more likely that he will definitely play for the Chicago Bulls before the end of the regular season.
