The squad for the 2014 San Antonio Scorpions has continued to grow with Stephen DeRoux being re-signed the club announced on Monday.
DeRoux had an impressive year for the Scorpions, restoring his career after being stranded when Puerto Rico folded.
The Jamaican rewarded the Scorpions for giving him the lifeline that he needed with an impressive season on the left side of defense that he grew more and more dominant in.
DeRoux played over 1500 minutes for the Scorpions in 2013, playing in every single clean sheet match the Scorpions had, showing his importance as such a feat was rare.
The defender has signed on for another year, and was reportedly being looked at by other sides in the league with Minnesota a potential suitor due to his experience with the old Thunder.
Marcina was the beneficiary of an improved DeRoux who seemed to take a shot at Tim Hankinson in his press release as he said "I really enjoyed the half season that I played under Alen as Head Coach. He got thrown into a tough situation, but he was composed and did what he had to do, so I am looking forward to spending a full season with him."
There is little off season for DeRoux as he stays fit playing in the MISL with Baltimore Blast, where he has already played five matches and scored two goals for the club while proving solid in defense for the indoor side.
