Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly have split. The New York Yankees' shortstop and his fiance, actress Minka Kelly have ended their engagement after three years together. The pair were planning to move in to Jeter's newly built Miami mansion and were going to get married sometime over the next year or so, however, plans were cut short.
"They care about each other and it was amicable. They're still friends," a source tells PEOPLE.
Their relationship, though considered very serious, was always kept very private. The pair never confirmed that they were engaged, and there was just as much wedding chatter as break up chatter throughout the past year or so. Minka definitely seemed to be a keeper for the NYY slugger, but things just didn't work out. There is a small chance that they could get back together, however with Kelly's rep confirming the news, that seems unlikely.
