Derek Hough choreographed an Olympics routine for ice skaters Charlie White and Meryl Davis. On Jan. 31, People Magazine reported that Hough worked with White and Davis who hope to bring home a gold medal from Sochi in the ice-dancing category.
"We are a totally different team. We've really taken it to the next level this year," said White. "We're expecting a lot of ourselves. There's a lot of pressure from within," said Davis. The pair won the silver medal in ice-dancing in Vancouver but they are determined to kick things up a notch -- so why not seek out one of the best dancers in the biz?
Derek Hough won't attend the Olympics but that doesn't mean that he didn't put his all into the routine he came up with for White and Davis. They will be ice-dancing to a "My Fair Lady" themed routine in a couple of weeks and Hough will be cheering them on. If his work translates well on the ice, White and Davis really could medal. Apparently they are already favorites!
"We met and talked music and ideas. There are some things that you can do on the ice that you can't do on the floor. I was in awe," Hough explained.
Derek Hough's Olympics connection came to fruition thanks to Kristi Yamaguchi -- an Olympic gold medalist in ice skating who won season 6 of "Dancing with the Stars" with Mark Ballas. It's all about who you know, right?!
