Detectives with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) are investigating the death of a young female found by a sanitation worker on January 18, 2014 at approximately 7:20 a.m. The body of 21-year-old Meaghan Casady, from nearby Gibsonton, Fla., was found behind the Summerfield Shopping Plaza near heavily-traversed Big Bend Road in Riverview, Fla.
Casady's body was completely naked and was unremarkable pertaining to any signs of trauma or injury.
A sanitation company employee picking up Dumpster trash noticed the body and contacted law enforcement. Deputies and detectives, along with crime scene technicians, cordoned-off the area with yellow crime scene tape.
Initial determination by deputies and crime scene technicians was that Casady's body had probably not been there for more than 24 hours. Casady was located in a grassy area near a pond behind the plaza.
Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's assistance to help solve this death investigation. Anyone with information, especially details for the 24-hour time period prior to Casady's body being found, is asked to contact the HCSO investigators at 813-247-8200.
