Deputies detain elderly man for allegedly harassing a child on a bus

A Salinas man is being detained by Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly harassed a young girl on a bus early this morning.

According to the sheriff’s department, a Greyhound bus driver pulled the bus over after receiving a report from the victim’s mother that her daughter was being bothered by another passenger. The bus was occupied by several people including the mother and daughter, and suspect. It was en route from San Jose to Los Angeles.

The driver pulled the bus over on northbound Highway 101 at Bernal Road and called 911 to report the incident. According to the victim, 70-year-old Maximiliano Aguirre annoyed and harassed the 11-year-old girl who was on the bus with her family.

Deputies are currently questioning both the victim and Aguirre, who has not yet been formally charged.
